Removing Barriers to Wellness

Sometimes traditional talk therapy just doesn’t feel ‘right’. It can feel too intimidating or overwhelming, or like you’re talking in circles without feeling much or any improvement. We created Wellness Walks in order to remove barriers for those individuals who shy away from traditional talk therapy, but would still benefit from a therapeutic approach.

Wellness Walks take a bit of a different approach to healing. Instead of focusing on a problem or dilemma, we create a little space — a healthy distraction. This can be helpful for those individuals who feel overwhelmed easily or need some much-needed relief. Rather than focusing on a problem (which can further tax your system), we take a proactive approach to building up your resilience and wellness.

The Healing Power of Nature

Have you ever had a long walk with a friend and found yourself sharing your deepest feelings and wonderings about life without feeling taxed? In fact, you left that interaction feeling relieved, even energized? I don’t think that is a coincidence and here’s why: when we are moving our bodies and taking in the sights and sounds of nature, we are tapping into an incredible healing resource. Our nervous systems down-regulate (relax) just by being in nature — breathing fresh air, listening to the birds, feeling the sun and wind on our skin. And when we couple that with the company of a safe confidante, we feel even better.

Wellness Walks Versus Counselling

Nature-Based Wellness Walks focus on maintaining and improving our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. When you are called to bring some levity and resource into your life, this is the service for you! And if and when you are ready to do some deeper work, our counselling service is an option. Because Wellness Walks are in public, we are very intentional about what we explore so as to ensure your privacy and wellbeing. If something ‘big’ comes up, we will acknowledge it with compassion, and we will make a plan for a deeper exploration using Counselling or Somatic Experiencing.
